Chair

 Jan Peterson

Jan has been a member of WBLUMC since 1997. During the past 23 years, she has served on numerous committees including Children’s Ministry, Staff-Parish Relations and Small Groups. Her children, Madison and Kyle Bjostad, attended Sunday school and were confirmed in the church. Jan and husband Jon Nedved have five children between them, and two granddaughters. Jan has worked for the 2nd Judicial District as a Court Operation Supervisor for the past 28 years; Jon is an environmental engineer at Residio. They love the outdoors, and most weekends you'll find them camping, hiking or snowshoeing. Jan also loves gardening, cooking and history, and the family has two rescue dogs, Ferbert and Yoko. As Jan says, "Life is never dull in our household!"

 

Members

 Tammey Busch

Tammey grew up in Shoreview and moved to the White Bear Lake area in 1987. She and her husband, Gary Ketchie, married in 1993 and bought a home in Mahtomedi at that time. Tammey earned a degree from Hamline University and later the U of M Carlson School of Management. She worked in Training and Development her entire career, teaching adults how to work with complex software systems. She worked for Honeywell, Hughes Aircraft, the U of M, and Wells Fargo; she also owned Training Matters Inc., a consulting firm, for many years. Tammey is currently retired and enjoys travel, the theatre and arts, reading, and time spent with friends and loved ones. She has been a member of WBLUMC since 2014 and has been active in the Faith in Action ministry, the prayer team, and the Faith Formation committee. She feels blessed to have found such a warm and welcoming community to call her home church. 

 Wes Erwin

Wes and his wife Debby have been members of WBLUMC since 2009. They have two children: Wyatt, who is 15 and has been confirmed in the church, and Jordan, who is 13 and will begin confirmation this year. Wes is a licensed counselor and spent 12 years teaching at Minnesota State University Moorhead before becoming a stay-at-home dad and developing his skills at writing children’s books. Wes’ published books include Boundary Waters ABC (AdventureKeen) and Fire and Ashes: A Boy and an African Proverb (The Little Fig) which is due out in fall 2021. He is working on other picture books and a middle-grade novel. He has previously served on numerous church committees, most recently the Staff Parish Committee. Wes enjoys canoeing, camping, Boundary Waters Trips, basketball, and scouting activities with his sons.

 David Kittleson

David and his wife Dawn have been members of WBLUMC for the past 16 years. They have two children, Andrea and Paul, who were confirmed at the church. David has previously served on Staff Parish-Relations Committee. David and Dawn have been deeply involved in many medical mission trips to Honduras. They continue to support godchildren at NPH Honduras. David is a retired orthopedic surgeon after a very rewarding private practice for nearly 30 years. Currently they enjoy biking, hiking, road trips to National Parks, winter ski trips and summers at their lake home on Madeline Island.

 

 Terry Perreira

Over the years, Terry has served on numerous committees and activities at the church, including Staff-Parish Relations, Stewardship, Sunday School/Nursery, and missions — including Appalachian Service Project. Terry and his wife Julie were married at WBLUMC in 1994 and have been members since. They have three children, Emma, Joey, and Tom who were baptized and confirmed at the church. As recent empty nesters, they enjoy their new independence by exploring and hiking Minnesota and Wisconsin state parks and making future travel plans. Terry has worked in human resources throughout his career primarily as a Director of HR in the manufacturing and food industries.

 

 Roberta Schmidt

Roberta and husband John have been WBLUMC members for about 18 years after moving here from Wisconsin. Our son Michael was confirmed here and daughter Heather married Kyle Hall at the church. Roberta has been co-leader of BeFrienders, member of United Women of Faith (formerly UMW) and the funeral committee, an usher, a member of Faith in Action as well as serving on other committees, including Staff-Parish Relations and Nominating Committee. Roberta currently volunteers for a couple of different hospice organizations as well as Ralph Reeder Food shelf and Bridging. She's also a reading buddy at Willow Lane Elementary School. The Schmidts enjoy making pizza in our brick oven at home (John has played a big role with the Bread Ministry) and entertaining and boating on the St. Croix River.

 

 Margaret Westin

Margaret is a retired attorney, working most recently conducting workplace investigations. She has also served as General Counsel for Osseo Area Schools and Minneapolis Public Schools. Margaret and her husband Randy LaFoy have belonged to WBLUMC for 30 years. Their three children, Becca, Sonja and Ed LaFoy, were confirmed in the church. Margaret sings in the chancel choir and is on the Congregational Care Team. She was previously on Staff-Parish Relations Committee. Margaret enjoys outdoor activities as well as knitting, weaving and reading. She and Randy also travel when they can.
